Ozzy Osbourne, the Prince of Darkness and the Godfather of Heavy Metal, is finally set to release a new album this Friday. Who better to tell you about it than the man himself?
Ozzy Osbourne’s latest album Black Rain was released on December 11th 2010. The rock legend recently granted Rolling Stone an interview in which he spoke about his comeback with Black Rain and what it means to him as an artist. “I wanted people to feel that they know me,” he said, referring to his name-sake track on the album. “I wanted them not only feel that they knew me, but I also want them believe in themselves. I want them to understand that they can do anything they want. I still feel that I’m the same person I was thirty years ago, and I don’t think I’m any different. The only difference is that my life story is a little bit more interesting now.”
The album is the last recording with guitarist Zakk Wylde, who quit after a ten-year tenure with Osbourne’s band to pursue other projects. Asked about Wylde’s replacement Gus G., Osbourne said “This guy is crazy. He had never played rock before, but he’s come up with some of the heaviest stuff on the record. The first thing he said to me was, ‘Don’t worry. No one will know.’ I mean, this guy is a serious guitar player. I’ve never been so excited about what I’m doing.”
