Description

Tyler, The Creator has created a new album called IGOR. Tyler is a rapper who has released six studio albums and four mixtapes. He is also the front man of punk rock band Odd Future containing other members like Syd, Taco and Jasper Dolphin.

The first song on the album starts with a dial-up sound as if using an old phone. All songs on the album are in a similar style where you can tell he isn’t just sampling one type of music but multiple styles from many different genres, such as jazz or classical for example. This album is full of pure instrumentals that sound similar to old school hip hop or rap beats. For example, he uses the piano as a bass line in some songs and it sounds very similar to a bass line in a hip-hop track.

The instrumental tracks on this album are very different and they’re all amazing! He samples many different instruments such as the drums and bass including multiple live instruments on the song “Goddamn”. This is his first album without any guest artists; he also appears on most of the songs as a background vocalist or makes cameos during skits.

This album was released on May 20th 2015, which is a Friday, but the album cover has him in a black suit and fishnet gloves giving the appearance that he is wearing an all black outfit.

Odd Future was originally an indie rap group because they were from California, but after signing with major labels such as Columbia Records and Interscope Records they became a worldwide phenomenon for their controversial lyrics and art style. Tyler’s music is mainly about him rapping about his life or experiences. His style is very different from most other mainstream rap artists because he often raps about depressing topics like suicide, rape, depression or poverty.

I heard of Tyler the Creator, I didn’t dislike him, but he wasn’t my go-to music. I was watching a video discussing how the album was musically and decided to give it a listen and said to myself I’m buying the CD (I’m 43 and still enjoy that medium). I can say this much: The album speaks of love and loss in a sporadic and sad, but understandably relatable way. This album is categorized as rap, but trust when I say this, there’s more genres of music there that Tyler happens to rap/sing on which encompasses the last 50 years of music. But if that’s not enough to want to buy the CD Than maybe this might… the album has a song that was not originally released digitally. So conclude I appreciate Tyler’s work and I think anyone seeking a good story told through music will not go wrong here.

I was skeptical ordering it at 28$ because i honestly find this album rare. But it was the real thing! i’ve never gotten a vinyl before so if don’t know what to expect but it was awesome! packaged and delivered well, best of all sounded great!

This sounded so nice on my speaker set, IGOR is such a beautiful album. Definitely would recommend.Note that it comes with a pamphlet that contains the lyrics of each song, loved that.

I’ll be honest, at first I thought Tyler was one of those “I think they’re talented but not for me” type artists. Like I think Wolf is a good album, but it’s a bit much for me I guess. Then after a lot of people recommended this for me, I decided to listen to it. And I do not regret it.This album was amazing. It’s one of those albums where I genuinely do not think there is a bad track on it.From the catchy intrigue of Erfquake, the demented jealously of New Magic Wand, to the tragic Gone Gone/Thank You, it’s a great concept album about love, heartbreak, and mistakes. It is one of the best albums of all time and I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve re-listened to it. It led me to listen to Flowerboy and get hyped for Call Me When You Get Lost when that was announced. If you get the CD version (I think it’s also on the Vinyl version as well) like I did you get an exclusive song, Boyfriend, which adds a lot to the album imo. There’s also the silly fact that the booklet the CD comes with has the lyrics to all the songs and says Playboi’s Carti verse on Erfquake “cannot be transcribed” which I found pretty funny becuase I never knew what he was saying, so it’s nice to see Tyler doesn’t either.Anyway, 10/10 album, it’s what made me a fan of the artist.

i saw a video where someone ordered this online and it was bent in half so i was a little nervous, but it was in perfect condition ! 10/10 do recommend

Hey Antony fantano here the internets busiest music nerd. It’s Tyler’s best project out right now and it’s got amazing song on it. But it does cost a lot of money, I would personally wait to get it cheaper than $100 but that’s just me. And a lot of people are complaining about skips but it’s either their record player or it came warped, but the chances of it coming warped are slim. Amazing record I would give it a strong 9.
