In my town, we have two permanent detectors at each end of the main strip, one has a lot tree growth in front so it don’t detect till you’re right in front of it (but it’s not showing your speed till then either) the other has a good clear mile and the detector signals well before it shows your speed. The unit detected pings from a a radar car a good mile and a half before the radar car was easy in sight. I have had other Cobra units, never a disappointment or ticket, I don’t use them to be able to speed, just so I don’t get caught being negligent.

I had this radar for the past 3 months and I am really impressed with the accuracy and the long range of detection! I think already has been paid off for the couple of tickets that I been able to avoid! ? I highly recommended this radar. and for the price you pay you cannot go wrong with this!

Compré radar cobra y la pantalla se puso negra y ya no funciona no tengo información del vendedor no se que hacer si me pueden ayudar por fabor lo compré amazon

  4. Dan Rutledge

This is a no-frill radar detector, which is exactly what I wanted. Of course you will have false alarms near grocery stores, but using highway mode will minimize it. The alert could be a little louder. Overall, I’m happy with my purchase.

This radar/laser detector works 100% exactly as it should. Very accurate and works at great distances. The reason some have given it 1 stars saying it didn’t detect a police officer. The reason for this is because not all cops have their radars on. Cops are highly trained to be able to look at a car and determine an average speed. If the officer does not have his radars on it WILL NOT detect it. It’s impossible for any radar detectors to detect one that isn’t turned on. Therefore it will not beep saying cop ahead. I come from a family of town cops and state troopers and tested the equipment on various speed detecting equipment and various bands. The device found every single one of them before the cop cars detector scanned me giving me time to slow Down. The rear scanner on the device works just as good AS LONG AS it has a clear view to the back. For laser detectors that cops sometimes use they HAVE to be parked and not moving for it to get your speed. The reason is because the laser beam is very small and narrow and must hit the car directly for it to register a speed making it 80% more accurate. This detector should be mounted in the very center bottom of your windshield for best use. The reason for it to be placed in the bottom center is most speed trap lasers are lower to the ground for best accuracy meaning the laser is pointed at the hood/front bumper of your car. Having the device in the center bottom gives it about 90% more chance of warning you sooner. With radars the police use it’s a large dispursment of radio waves making it very easy for the radar detector to find. The amazing thing about this detector is the fact it has a great system to determine if it’s a cop or just a door near by. I have so far never had a false reading in town unless I had the sensitivity on high. Finally, those who say they get false highway readings. Your not. 1st off there are hidden speed cameras. 2nd Cars and simitrucks can set it off. Why? Well, that is because most new cars and almost all simitrucks have radar systems that help them detect nearby cars to alert you when not to merge over or if your swerving. These radar systems in the trucks and cars generally use a K band signal at 24.75hertz.Passing a railroad crossing can almost always set it off. Rail roads have radars to detect cars to send information to the trains conductor to know he needs to blow the horn and lower the arms on the tracks. The signal is different state to state but in South Carolina about 98% of railways use X band.I hope this review helps sorry it was long just wanted to properly explain the detector to everyone!!!

I have had Cobra radar detectors for most of my 50 years of driving. No tickets in the last 40 years. I decided to upgrade my fairly old detector(20+ yrs) with this model. I was skeptical and was prepared to return it if I wasn’t satisfied with the performance. The day it came I took it on a 3-hour trip via the Ohio turnpike and inner-city driving. I was amazed at the 1-2 times getting a false signal compared to my old model even in dense city driving. Returning home that night it was dark and rainy which made it difficult to see. To my surprise, it went off showing “Laser”. I couldn’t see the Ohio State PD at first but eventually picked up his parking lights in the median between the concrete lane barrier. I was traveling 90+mph in a 70 zone and had time to slow down. No ticket. That’s good enough for me. This is a keeper. I have no idea why more people don’t own radar detectors. For what they cost, they would pay for themselves in one ticket. You do have to learn how to use them and understand their limitations, unlike my brother-in-law that thought he could always do 100+mph and never get caught. If you like getting those speeding tickets, then don’t buy one. I prefer to skip the ticket costs and increased insurance premiums for a few bucks of a detector. This one is great!

This is an amazing radar detector that won’t break the bank. over the past couple of months of use, it has saved me and some friends from numerous tickets. Those saying that it did not work simply do not understand how laser radar works. There is NO radar detector that will catch every signal from every type of radar in use today with 100% accuracy. A radar detector is simply a tool to help you catch a signal not a guarantee that if it is not going off there is no signal to catch. I also will run Waze on long trips and nine times out of ten the detector will go off before the “police reported ahead” prompt from the app.

I have used non app based COBRA radar detectors for 30+ years (and their walkie takie radios for just as long)I was worried about the application / Integration BUT once i learned how it worked it is easy and flawless for the most part. The app pauses for a few seconds if the app doesn’t have internet access when launched but it still works (i just spin up the app while im in wifi range near the house…. i live in a rural area and no cellular within 5 to 8 miles of my home hence… having my phone near wifi/home on the startup)It has EXCELLENT RANGE LIKE on Highway mode in a rural small road it picks police driving around and still out of cite….it has incredible range….. when near Albany NY (my closest city) I occasionally drop it into CITY mode…..It is REALLY REALLY REALLY accurate in police car/stoplight and other passive radar detection…. it is IMHO a superior radar detector for the price…. if i get caught… i know its on me….

I had an old one from around 2005 , and some reason this past January I went to pull the plug out and it broke . I drove around for 3 months without the old one and figured it’s time to replace .I usually am the one that drives slow , most people pass me at night , but on those rare occasions I do need to be reminded how fast I’m driving .I unpacked this and looked at the directions and placed this in the car . I just have mine sitting on the dash with a small anti slip shelf liner . My old one sat there for all these years and never moved . I was just in an accident and was hit from the side and it never moved from its place , I figure that’s good for me .This alerts me to when the police are on radar , and it makes me more aware of how fast I am going . I do tend to drive fast in the city limits , so this has saved me from a ticket .I have not used the app , I don’t think I would need that , but maybe some day I will download it .I have the volume up to the loudest setting , I tend to play music loud while driving along and I’ve heard this every time it has gone off .I know people complain each time they see a police car that this doesn’t go off , they don’t always have radar on .So far this has been spot on and I’m glad to have this . Just wish I had purchased this a few months ago , had the need to speed to get to the hospital fast and was thankful I did not get a ticket .

My old radar detector was alarming on every car that has collision avoidance radars (basically every modern car). This one solves that problem and is great against K band, Ka band, and laser police radars. Love it.
