The 6:20 Man is a heart-racing thriller set in the world of high finance in New York, from the number one bestselling author David Baldacci.

A journey that took him to hell . . .

Having survived combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq and been decorated with medals, Travis Devine mysteriously leaves the Army under a cloud of suspicion. And at thirty-two years old, he’s swapping fighting the Taliban and Al Qaeda for a different kind of danger in the cut-throat world of high finance.

His daily commute on the 6.20 a.m. train into New York’s financial district, to his new job as an analyst at the minted powerhouse investment bank Cowl and Comely, takes him into a world where greed, power, jealousy, and ambition result in financial abuse of the masses and the enrichment of an elite few. But it is on this daily journey that he passes a house where he sees something that sounds alarm signals he cannot ignore.

A close friend of Devine’s, Sarah Ewes, is the first victim and the mysterious circumstances surrounding her death at Cowl and Comely compel him to investigate further. As he digs deeper, he discovers strange coincidences and unnerving truths. As the deaths pile up, and the major players show their hands, he must question who he can trust and who he must fight.

I eagerly look forward to a Baldacci book and did so with The 6:20 man. While I enjoyed it it was more then a little off kilter. The story didn’t come together well to make the book a page Turner as usual. At time I actually wanted to scratch my head at the writing and think “Is this his first novel” It was a bit too disjointed. From the ending it looks like he may be planning a new series. If so, it surely needs some strengthening of the main chacters

Read all of his books and this one takes you everywhere. Didn’t disappoint. I loved that I couldn’t figure out the mystery. Keep my interest the entire time. Highly recommend to everyone who loves a page turner and a great mystery.

  3. WandaCarol

A new character, a new mystery, a new town, same great Baldacci! When life offers you a chance at redemption, what do you do? The former Army Ranger on the 6:20 to NYC decided to take his second chance. In a whirlwind few days, corporate and governmental greed clash with private lives and lies to create a “who done it” worthy of Agatha Christy. Four roommates, a Wall Street agency whitewashed just enough to hide a worldwide networks of secret accounts, a woman in color coded bikinis, and so many deaths you might need a score card…Baldacci takes international intrigue and brings it down to street level.

  4. Burton Carrington

Have read many of his books. I think this is the best one ever. From beginning to end a brilliant murder mystery. Twist and turns everywhere. And blessedly 4 or 5 page chapters. Makes it so easy and faster to read. Not an accident this book started at #1 then down to 3. Then back up to #1 for 2 more weeks. Word of mouth. Read it.

Another masterpiece by Baldacci that is very difficult to put down once you start reading! I only hope that this is the start of a new series focusing on Mr. Devine! I know that you will really enjoy this book but make sure you set aside enough time to complete as you will not put it down until you complete it!!

Couldn’t put it down. Baldacchino should run the DOJ, CIA and FBI. Maybe he could straighten out this country. Never saw the ending coming. Mr. Baldacci is one of the best authors we have and I’ll be a fan til the day I die.

  8. Libby N

As are most Baldacci books, this one was a wild ride. The suspense and action rarely let up. I thoroughly looked forward to picking this up and reading it each day. I only have 2 complaints. I could never accept the name “Travis Devine”. It just did not fit the character, especially that last name. Complaint number 2 is chapter 82. It was hard to believe that those 2 people would stand there that long and rehash the entire plot. It was not natural and one of them, the one holding the gun, would have gotten extremely tired of holding it and would have gotten a major arm cramp. Chapter 82 was a disappointment. But everything else was pretty exciting. Thank you, David!

  9. Michael G Kurilla

David Baldacci’s latest thriller, The 6:20 Man introduces a new protagonist. Devine starts out with a clouded background being a former West Pointer who mysteriously gives up what appears to be a promising military career. He obtains an MBA and then elects to become an intern on Wall Street (the equivalent of signing up for Army rangers in his 40’s). A murder takes place in the building where he works and the victim is an old girlfriend. Then he’s suborned by a shadowy DHS official who is investigating the firm he works for. At this point, everything goes sideways and Devine is never quite sure if he’s the prime suspect while at the same time, also on the real killer’s watch list.Baldacci has nailed another main character with a compelling backstory, a wide range of useful skillsets, along with the gumption to put himself into the thick of things. There’s quite a bit of indirect and unflattering commentary on Wall Street. The high tech sector also has a prominent role. Good / bad guys and gals are mostly up in the air until nearly the very end. Lastly, it would seem that Devine has a new career path that promises plenty of future installments.
